GISR Briefs UK Parliamentarians on Events in Gaza

GISR and HBKU staff meet UK Parliamentarians

On April 29, GISR’s Dr. Sultan Barakat welcomed a delegation from the United Kingdom’s House of Commons for a briefing on developments and issues concerning the Gaza crisis. The delegates were The Rt Hon. Alun Cairns MP (Conservative, Vale of Glamorgan); Florence Eshelomi MP (Labour (Co-op),Vauxhall, and Shadow Minister (Levelling Up, Housing, Communities and Local Government)); Marsha De Cordova MP (Labour, Battersea); and Chris Law MP (Scottish National Party, Dundee West). The parliamentarians were accompanied by Jeremy Bradshaw, Director of the British-Qatari Society, and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar. The briefing was also attended by Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s Susan L. Karamanian, Dean, College of Law; Erin McCandless, Distinguished Visiting Professor of Public Value, College of Public Policy; and Marc Owen Jones, Associate Professor, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, who joined Dr. Barakat in highlighting some of the areas where the UK can play an effective role in ending the genocide.
