Biography

Abdulrahman Alhaj, Researcher in public government policies concerning religion, society, and the state. PhD in Islamic Studies from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) Previously served as an Assistant Professor at the Social Sciences University of Ankara/Turkey (ASBU). Founder and Project Director of the Syrian Memory Institution, affiliated with the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies. Played a role in the establishment of the Syrian National Council in 2011 the first political umbrella of the Syrian opposition, and has been actively involved in educational administration. Served as an Adviser to the Prime Minister and as Deputy Minister of Higher Education in the first Syrian Interim Government (2013). Additionally, contributed to the establishment of several civil society organizations and has published books and numerous academic research papers.
