Biography

professor at the College of Law, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Doha. Dr. Yip holds a PhD (summa cum laude) in international law and international relations from Oxford University and an LLB from King’s College London. She specializes in public international law and armed conflicts, with a particular focus on international humanitarian law, international human rights law and the law against the use of force. She was awarded the Francis Lieber Book Prize in 2023 for her first monograph, ‘The Use of Force against Individuals in War under International Law – A Social Ontological Approach.’ She engages with a wide range of disciplines in her research and has written extensively on topics related to international law and armed conflicts, including several research articles
