Dr. Nikolay Kozhanov

Biography

A Research Associate Professor at the Gulf Studies Center (GSC) at Qatar University. He is also a Non-Resident Scholar with the Economics and Energy Program at the Middle East Institute in Washington, DC, where he focuses on OPEC and OPEC+ strategies, Iran’s economy, and the behavior of GCC hydrocarbon producers in global oil and gas markets. In addition, Dr. Kozhanov serves as a Consulting Fellow with the Russia and Eurasia Programme at Chatham House, bringing over a decade of expertise on Russia’s presence in the Middle East.His research interests include the geopolitics of Gulf hydrocarbons, Russian foreign policy in the Middle East, and Iran’s economy and international relations. Dr. Kozhanov holds a PhD in Economics from St. Petersburg State University (Russia) and an MA in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Exeter (UK). He has also been a visiting fellow at several leading international think tanks, including Chatham House, the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, and the Carnegie Moscow Center.
