
Is Professor of Middle East History and Anthropology at Shawnee State University in Ohio. He has also taught at Georgetown University-Qatar and Qatar University (Gulf Studies Center). He is a consultant and a Syria and Middle East commentator with research interest on several subjects. Al-Azm is a founder of The Day After project (TDA) and coordinates the Heritage Protection Initiative (TDA-HPI) at the TDA. He is also a founder and co-Director of ATHAR Project and the Achilles Research Group.
